Pinkard Construction Company Receives Excellence Award From Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA)
Lakewood, CO - Pinkard Construction Company and RNL accepted a Design-Build Excellence Award from DBIA during the National Design-Build Conference and Expo in Orlando, Florida on October 20, 2011. Central Platte Campus for the City and County of Denver’s Public Works Department was honored for effective design-build teaming that exceeded the owner’s needs. A jury of design-build experts met at DBIA’s Washington, DC, headquarters in June to review the submissions. Although the awards program received over 100 submissions in 11 categories only 21 projects were honored by DBIA with an award.
The Denver Central Platte Campus was a $28-million fixed-price design-build competition for the Denver Public Works Department. A collaborative design-build process was successfully employed to achieve optimal efficiency and a compelling design aesthetic. The Central Platte facility exhibits the seamless coupling of sustainable design with superior functionality, while establishing a well-organized circulation plan for the 18-acre campus. At 105,000 square feet, the Denver Central Platte Campus achieved LEED-NC Gold.
