Pinkard Begins Renovation of $16.5 million Hirschfeld Tower for Denver Housing Authority
Denver, CO - Construction Manager/General Contractor Pinkard Construction Company and Parikh Stevens Architects have begun construction on Hirschfeld Tower - a complete gut and interior renovation of a 9-story, 143,070 sf, 228-unit high rise for the Housing Authority of the City and County of Denver.
The interior build-out will include a new main lobby, community/reading room, lounge, laundry and other common areas, and storage area expansions, all constructed with structural steel, glass and EPDM roof system. Finish work includes new framing, furring, ACT, drywall and painted concrete ceilings, carpet, tile and sheet vinyl.
Exteriors will have new paint, stucco and brick. Site demolition and reconstruction includes new asphalt parking, landscaping, sidewalk, curb and gutter and concrete areas.
New electrical and mechanical systems include a geothermal water-source heat pump system that eliminates the need for boilers or a water tower.
Demolition and abatement is owner subcontracted and will be completed prior to Pinkard commencing work. This project includes Davis Bacon wage rates and strict MBE/WBE goals.
Pinkard originally built the structure in 1967 for $1.9 million.
