Town of Erie's Leon A. Wurl Completes Under Budget and 56 Days Ahead of Schedule
Lakewood, CO - Construction Manager/General Contractor Pinkard Construction Company has completed the Leon A. Wurl Service Center project under budget and 56 days ahead of schedule.
An intensive preconstruction planning phase kept design-related changes to .6%, or 75% below the industry average. The final contract was $202,000 below the original contract, allowing the Town to apply the savings to other projects and uses. The locally-funded project was fast-tracked to allow the Town of Erie to completely relocate its maintenance operations well ahead of the winter season.
The Leon A. Wurl Service Center is a maintenance, shops and office facility for the Town of Erie Public Works Department and Parks Department. It features a 9,560 sf Class “B” office building that connects with a 16,728 sf maintenance building on approximately 7.5 developed acres.
Sustainable features on the maintenance building include a white TPO roof, photovoltaic panels with a power purchase agreement, and full heat recovery.
The Center also includes a 250,000 sf service yard with a 3,000 gallon fueling station, magnesium chloride/salt storage facility and truck wash pad.
OZ Architecture – Denver and CH2Mhill provided design services.
