Pinkard Selected for United Launch Alliance’s New Centennial Campus
Lakewood, CO - Construction Manager/General Contractor Pinkard Construction Company has been awarded a contract for the remodel and build-out of United Launch Alliance’s (ULA) new (estimated) $21 million Centennial, Colorado campus.
ULA’s new headquarters project will be approximately 450,000 g.s.f. of campus remodels and buildouts to consolidate 1,700 ULA employees into a single, four-building campus. Work in the four buildings, which will be conducted in two phases, includes approximately 420,000 s.f. of remodels, and 30,000 s.f. of new build-out.
Currently, ULA employees work in nine buildings at three locations across south Metro Denver. This new campus will include three buildings at the Panorama Corporate Center in Englewood, and the Waterview IV building in Centennial. All four buildings are within walking distance of each other.
The scope of work includes a Launch Operations Support Center, 34,000 s.f. of avionics labs, extensive raised flooring build-out, and more than 400,000 s.f. of office space.
Pinkard has implemented special scheduling strategies to meet the fast tracked schedule, including phased turnover of the labs and offices and extensive pre-purchasing of mechanical and electrical equipment, including chillers, roof top units, computer room air conditioners (CRAC), and light fixtures. Pinkard also has fast-tracked subcontracts for access flooring, fire protection, drywall and demolition.
Pinkard built the technologically-advanced Panorama I and II buildings from 1996 to 1999. The buildings feature self-healing fiber optic cabling, and clean power throughout with two substations. The high capacity HVAC system provides ample cooling for the heavy computer use and occupancy loads.
To complete the project, Pinkard will be working with DLR Group architects and Owner’s Representative Catalyst Planning Group.
United Launch Alliance, the nation’s rocket company, provides reliable, cost-effective access to space for U.S. government missions via the Atlas V, Delta II and Delta IV rockets. ULA designs, builds and launches critically important missions for the Department of Defense, NASA, the National Reconnaissance Office, and other commercial customers. ULA employs more rocket scientists than any company in the world.
