Pinkard Selected for Denver Housing Authority Renovation/Addition
Lakewood, CO - Construction Manager/General Contractor Pinkard Construction Company has been awarded a contract for the renovation and addition of Westwood Homes for Denver Housing Authority.
The $11 million Westwood Homes project at 855 Irving Street in Denver consists of partial renovations and small additions to 184 affordable townhomes in 23 buildings, and one building renovation for Catholic Charities’ Headstart program. The circa 1950’s two-story structure is cast-in-place concrete. Scope of work for this occupied, multi-phased project includes electrical retrofits; new roofs; a concrete walkway “spine” through the property greenbelt; and 11 small building additions.
The 192,000 sf project contains numerous upgrades designed to meet Enterprise Green Communities Criteria. Sustainable upgrades expected to provide a 15% decrease in energy consumption include solar electric; Energy Star appliances, furnaces and water heaters; new insulation; no urea formaldehyde on new millwork; and asbestos, lead, and radon mitigation.
This HUD funded project is a part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). It employs Davis Bacon wage rates, Section 3 hiring, and strict MBE/WBE goals.
