DENVER – Urban Peak, with Pinkard Construction Company, City Projects, and Shopworks Architecture, dedicated the newly renovated Rox’s Place supportive youth housing facility with a ribbon-cutting and building dedication on Friday, October 24.
In attendance at the ribbon cutting were many of Urban Peak partners, including the Colorado Department of Housing, City and County of Denver, Denver Office of Economic Development, Denver Department of Human Services, Denver’s Road Home, the Federal Home Loan Bank, Colorado Business Bank, and Energy Outreach Colorado.
The $1 million renovation to the 50-year old facility at 1548 Ogden Street in Denver included upgrades of individual living units, plumbing, mechanical, electrical and fire protection retrofits, as well as ADA upgrades.
“With these improvements, Urban Peak can now offer youth ages 16 through 24 a safe and comfortable place to live as they build the confidence and skills necessary to maintain permanent, stable housing,” said Kim Easton, CEO of Urban Peak. “It’s remarkable what a supportive community environment can do for youth as they exit the streets and find their own path to success in school or work.”
Rox’s Place is dedicated to former Urban Peak CEO Roxane White. Rocky Mountain Youth Housing is the supportive youth program operating at Rox’s Place, which has been in operation for over 10 years thanks to a partnership with the City and County of Denver. The program provides 36 units of supportive housing; a community room for life skills classes, case management meetings and informal gatherings; an updated laundry room; meeting space and accessible units to meet the needs of all residents.
