Pinkard worked as CM/GC with Ohlson Lavoie Collaborative to create a world-class “lifestyle club” for Lakeshore Centre of Chicago, whose vision for the new athletic club was a facility that would encourage family values in a community atmosphere, and provide all the necessary amenities for relaxation, play, and hard-core workouts.
Comparable high-end athletic clubs of this size typically require 20 months of construction, but Pinkard constructed this facility in 16 months, despite over $900,000 in owner change orders. These changes were a result of Lakeshore Centre’s need for perfecting their prototype facility, even at the expense of changing work already put into place.
Pinkard and Ohlson Lavoie Collaborative shared Lakeshore Centre’s vision for the new club, and expended as many man-hours as necessary to help Lakeshore Centre achive their goals. Along the way, Pinkard provided Lakeshore Centre over $600,000 in value engineering savings, tore out work and provided additional pricing for numerous redesigns, endured a 100-year snowstorm that halted all construction for nearly a week, opened the site to the owner’s membership drive tours, and – at the last-minute of construction – agreed to assume responsibility for handling the delivery, storage, installation and setup of Lakeshore Centre’s massive fixtures, furnishings and equipment (FF&E) package. This package included 44 weight machines, numerous cardio machines, 30 spinning bikes, 32 free-weight stations, and over two tons of plates, bars, and dumbbells.
