Palomino Euro Bistro is 407-seat restaurant with full-service kitchen located in the main lobby of the Park Central office building—one of Denver's largest high-rises. The 15' tall monumental storefront overlooking Denver Skyline Park, the 2,400 square foot patio next to the park, the ceiling-scape, exhibition cooking line, wood-burning ovens, snake-like white marble bar top and commissioned art glass combine to control vistas and create a landmark for all who experience this space from either outside or in.
This project required a tremendous amount of equipment, furnishings, and over 250 craftsmen all working together in a 10,000 sf space.
The building’s mechanical capacity was inadequate to house a full-scale restaurant, which presented a logistically challenging, management and schedule issues that included adding separate pollution control units and finding space for several roof-top mechanical units.
Other challenges included removal of nine, four-story, 10,000 pound escalators, coordinating owner-procured materials within extremely tight delivery windows, and maintaining a safe, relatively quite construction site amid the comings and goings of over 2,000 office workers each day.
The restaurant with its high end finishes and exacting standard for quality, was completed in seven months—just in time for the grand opening—an event held to benefit The Denver Center for the Performing Arts.
